8th Grade Science

The eighth grade Science curriculum includes the study of the Hydrosphere, Chemistry,

Earth History, Disease Processes, and Biotechnology. The curriculum is taught using

technology for the delivery of lessons as well as student responses in the form of

formative and summative assessments. Hands on activities are used in the classrooms

in conjunction with the use of technology. Students are expected to complete

assignments in a timely manner. Students will take a formative benchmark assessment

to determine their strengths and weakness in the standards taught at the end of the first,

second and third nine weeks.. The eighth grade science curriculum is tested by the

state of North Carolina on an End of Grade test. Performance on the eighth curriculum

will be a factor in determining advanced placement in high school Science classes.
